RIS and PACS in one, from order to signed report

HINAI ImageNet is a web-based Radiology Information System and PACS. It schedules the study, sends the worklist to the scanner, archives the images, and gives radiologists a fast viewer and reporting desk, on site or across a teleradiology network.

What is RIS & PACS?

A Radiology Information System (RIS) runs the radiology workflow: orders, scheduling, worklists, reporting and billing. A PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) stores, distributes and displays the images in DICOM format. HINAI ImageNet is both in one web-based product, integrated with the hospital information system, so the order, the images and the signed report stay on one patient record.

Proven at national scale

Ministry of Health, Oman: a national imaging archive, built to last

For 15 years HINAI ImageNet has served the Ministry of Health, Oman, giving clinicians fast, reliable access to a growing archive of medical images, integrated with the Al Shifa HIS and supported by a Muscat-based team of PACS and imaging specialists.

23 remote clinics, one central reporting centre

Aster needed images from remote clinics read centrally without couriering CDs back and forth. HINAI ImageNet was integrated with the HIS at every clinic; studies now reach the central radiologists within seconds and confirmed reports flow back automatically to clinics up to 200 km away.

Everything radiology needs, RIS to archive

Web-based, platform and database independent, and multi-tenant: many sites run on one instance with their own profiles, access rights and data.

RIS: orders & scheduling

HIS orders flow straight into radiology. Modality-wise and date-wise calendars, single- and multi-modality, multi-facility scheduling, auto-booking of the next free slot, resource rosters and equipment calendars.

Workflow & worklists

Receptionist, radiographer, radiologist and transcriptionist worklists. DICOM modality worklist and MPPS remove re-entry at the scanner; rule-based pre-fetching brings prior studies forward for comparison.

Diagnostic image viewer

2D and 3D processing, MPR and volume rendering, cine, hanging protocols, study comparison, measurements and annotations, multi-monitor support, and an iPad viewer. Streams well on low bandwidth.

Reporting

Study-type templates, a word-processor style editor, built-in voice recording with foot-pedal support, integration with leading speech recognition, hierarchy-based confirmation, second reads and full report version history.

Teleradiology

Send selected series to a reporting hub, track transfer progress in real time, lock studies, message referring sites for clarifications, and bill teleradiology clients per study with tele-billing.

PACS archive server

Storage, workflow and display servers with hierarchical storage management, clustering, rule-based compression (JPEG lossless, JPEG-LS, JPEG 2000), forwarding and migration rules, and configuration changes without downtime.

Quality control & security

Study and image correction, patient and study reconciliation to IHE profiles, trash and recovery, user, role and viewer security, audit logs, and SSL encryption.

Media & patient CDs

Self-running patient CDs and DVDs with a built-in viewer, label printing, DICOM printer and disc-robot integration, and teaching-file export.

MIS dashboards

Site-wise and radiologist-wise study dashboards, workload per modality, cost per study, and workload by radiologist, transcriptionist and receptionist.

Standards built in

DICOM 3.0 (worklist, MPPS, storage commitment, query/retrieve, IAN, media), integrated HL7 engine, IHE patient reconciliation, XDS-I cross-enterprise image sharing and WADO web access.

Flexible commercials

Alongside standard licensing, transaction-based models such as pay-per-image let imaging centres run the full RIS & PACS without a large upfront investment.

HINAI ImageNet RIS & PACS FAQs

Direct, factual answers to common clinical, deployment and integration inquiries.

What is RIS & PACS?
A Radiology Information System (RIS) runs the radiology department's workflow: orders, scheduling, modality worklists, reporting and billing. A Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) stores, distributes and displays the images in DICOM format. HINAI ImageNet is both in one web-based product, so the order, the images and the signed report stay on the same patient record.
Does HINAI ImageNet include a Radiology Information System?
Yes. The RIS covers HIS orders, receptionist and front-office worklists, single- and multi-modality scheduling across facilities, resource rosters and equipment calendars, DICOM modality worklists, radiographer, radiologist and transcriptionist desks, report history, second reads and tele-billing.
Does HINAI ImageNet support teleradiology?
Yes. Remote sites send studies to a central reporting hub, radiologists report from a teleradiology worklist, and confirmed reports flow back to the referring site automatically. At Aster DM Healthcare in the UAE this connected 23 remote clinics to one central reporting centre and cut report turnaround from about 2 days to 15 minutes.
Which standards does HINAI ImageNet support?
HINAI ImageNet is DICOM 3.0 compliant (modality worklist, MPPS, storage, storage commitment, query/retrieve, IAN, media creation), has an integrated HL7 engine, conforms to IHE profiles including patient reconciliation and XDS-I for cross-enterprise image sharing, and supports WADO for web access to DICOM objects.
Can clinicians view images on tablets and phones?
Yes. The viewer is web-based and runs on desktops, iPad and other tablets and smartphones, with advanced streaming that performs well on low bandwidth. Images and reports can be opened from the HINAI EHR patient chart.
Is there an alternative to a large upfront licence?
Yes. Alongside standard licensing, ICT Health offers transaction-based models such as pay-per-image, so imaging centres and hospitals can get the full RIS & PACS without a large upfront investment.
