What is a Hospital Pharmacy Management System?

A pharmacy management system runs a pharmacy's prescriptions, sales, stock, purchasing and expiry control. HINAI Medics does this for the hospital's outpatient pharmacy, its inpatient and ward pharmacies, and for standalone pharmacies and pharmacy chains, with every sale and stock movement tied to the patient record and the bill.

What HINAI Medics does

One pharmacy system for outpatient counters, inpatient stores and standalone pharmacy chains.

Standalone pharmacies & chains

Set up any pharmacy as its own centre with registration, procurement, inventory and counter sales switched on. Run one outlet or a chain, with or without a hospital.

Counter sales for walk-in customers

Sell to customers who are not registered patients. A quick registration with a mobile number is enough to raise the invoice.

Inpatient pharmacy, many stores

Main pharmacy, floor and ward pharmacies, returns and the OP counter on one system, with indents, transfers and returns between stores.

Barcoding from procurement

Barcodes are created when stock is received in procurement, then track each medicine through stores, dispensing and returns.

Procurement, batch & expiry

Purchase orders, goods receipt, reorder levels and batch-wise expiry tracking, with near-expiry alerts for every store.

Linked to prescriptions & billing

Doctor prescriptions from HINAI EHR reach the pharmacy directly. Doses recorded by nurses in the inpatient EMR deduct stock and post to the patient bill.

Bedside medication administration is recorded by nurses in the inpatient EMR (HINAI EHR). HINAI Medics picks up each recorded dose, deducts it from the right store and charges it to the patient, so the pharmacy and the ward always see the same stock.

HINAI Medics FAQs

Direct, factual answers to common clinical, deployment and integration inquiries.

Can HINAI Medics run a standalone pharmacy or pharmacy chain without a hospital?
Yes. Each pharmacy is set up as its own centre in HINAI, with only registration, procurement, inventory and the outpatient pharmacy switched on. A chain of five pharmacies with no hospital attached runs on the same system, with central purchasing and stock visibility across every outlet.
Can the pharmacy sell to walk-in customers who are not registered patients?
Yes. Counter sales work for walk-in customers. The pharmacist does a quick registration with the customer's name and mobile number and raises the invoice on the spot, without a full hospital registration.
How does HINAI Medics handle inpatient pharmacy with several stores?
A hospital can run many pharmacy stores on one system: the main inpatient pharmacy, floor or ward pharmacies, a returns store and the outpatient counter. Stock moves between stores with indents and transfers, and every store keeps its own batch and expiry records.
How does barcoding work in HINAI Medics?
Barcodes are generated from the procurement module when a line item is received. That barcode follows the medicine through stores, dispensing and returns. When a nurse records a dose in the inpatient EMR, the consumption is deducted from stock and charged to the patient's account automatically.
Can the outpatient pharmacy be run as a separate business entity?
Yes. Many hospitals run the outpatient pharmacy as a separate P&L under the same brand. HINAI Medics keeps its sales, stock and accounts separate from the hospital while still sharing the patient record and prescriptions.
